RETIREMENT BOARDING and HORSE SALES


We are pleased to offer quality, caring retirement services to your older friend. We will do all we can to ensure their retirement is happy and healthy and that you have peace of mind knowing that we are loving them for you. Our family farm provides individual attention to a small number of retired horses twice a day. Someone is almost always at the farm 24 hours a day. The horses are housed along the driveway so they can easily be monitored.

FACILITIES:   1-2 acre pasture or smaller dry lot for founder-prone horses, both with lighted run-in sheds.  Fences are board or electric tape fence.

FEED:  Alfalfa/orchardgrass square bales or barn-stored mixed hay in big bales.  Basic grain; Horses are fed one pound of senior feed twice daily with vitamin supplements.  You can make adjustments as needed.

WATER:  75 to 100 gallon stock tanks are kept full of fresh water and heated during the winter.

SALT:  Trace mineral blocks are always available.

GROOMING:  Horses recieve a basic grooming once a week.

 

We bring to your horse, 30 years of experience in the horse industry, a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Studies with a pre-vet emphasis and success with difficult management cases including chronic laminitis and currently a broken leg!

Fly Protection:  We use roll-on products such as "War Paint" and topical spot-on's and natural fly protection; "fly predators".  You may supply a fly mask that your horse can wear during the daytime.

Basic Monthly Board: Introductory Offer: One hundred fifty dollars per month for the whole time your horse stays with us...no increase in the base rate!! Offer good until Oct 30, 2005.

Medications as needed

De-worming every 6 weeks

Annual vaccinations:  EEE, WEE, Tetanus,West Nile, Coggins Test

Annual dental exam and required care by a vet

Farrier every 6-8 weeks or as needed

Blanketing

Burial or other arrangements

Other Vet services as needed

Requirements: One month board in advance, signed contract, negative coggins, current vaccinations (see above), vet statement detailing horse's condition, photo at time of arrival.
